(1) Practise reading the following email addresses and phone numbers (~10 min.)

(2) Watch the following video to practise your listening skills with names, street names, phone numbers and email addresses (As it is very long and for more challenge, feel free to play it at higher speed - 1.25, 1.5 or higher! 😁). You can also scan through the video and only work on the parts you are most interested in. Time stamps are available in the description so that you can select what you are most interested in. (~10 min.)

(3) Practise spelling your own name/phone/email with a partner (max. 10 min.)
📞2. Listening: Taking & leaving Messages (~40 min.)
(1) Listen to the following phone conversations and complete the message pads (in paper or format):
(2) Listen again and note down the expressions used in each conversation in this worksheet.
(3) Check your answers here.
(4) Read the vocabulary sheet and note down / highlight the expressions you want to remember.
🗣️3. Practice (~25-30 min in total): Ask your teacher to connect you with your partner via the lab.
(1) Guided Practice: With a partner, follow the different steps in this worksheet and roleplay the phone conversation using as many expressions as possible. (~10 min.)
(2) Role Plays 9 & 10 (~15 min.):
- With a partner, decide who will play role A and role B
- Read the information in the corresponding role play cards:
- When you are ready, role play phone conversations 9 and then 10.
- If you still have time, you can practise some more with the other role plays on the same worksheet.
💼Homework: In pairs, prepare a phone conversation to arrange a meeting with the
US scientist you contacted by email.
- Intro / small talk
- Why you are calling
- Arrange a meeting
- Conclude
💡Next Friday, you will role-play the phone conversation, and then change roles. After practising a few times, you will record the conversation and it will be evaluated.
